ASHLEY LOERA

documentary photographer

As a documentary photographer, I create images of human connections. I capture powerful moments in life. Themes of femininity, sensuality, and documentary images that connect human experiences inspire my art practice. Even though we live in a digital world, I prefer the slower more deliberate practice of Film Photography. The pace of film work and the intuitive quality help me communicate remarkable moments in our lives. My personal projects consist of testing the limits of other mediums such as weaving, painting, ceramics, and printmaking. My artwork displays variations of female bodies and creative anatomical references to feminine energy. Artists such as Ana Mendieta, Carlota Guerrero, and Mary Ellen Mark are people who inspire my practice. I have a BA and AA Degrees in Photography from California State University, Long Beach and Long Beach City College.
